Via Francigena and
Via Britannica

The Via Francigena is based on the route travelled by Archbishop Sigeric to receive his pallium of office from Pope John XV in 990 AD. He wrote a detailed account of his journey back to Canterbury from Rome, which is still walked to this day as the Via Francigena or Frankish Way. The full route of roughly 2,000 km has now been extended by 140 km to London as the Francigena Britannica linking London with the eternal city of Rome.
